Hi Fish Families!

Here is a glimpse of our week in the fish class:

Language Arts: The children wrote a class I Can book during Writers' Workshop time. They are working on individual I Like books. We learned that you repeat the title and stick to a category (fruit, movies, sports) when writing list books. I will introduce list with a twist books next week.  During Readers' Workshop we learned that strong readers read and teachers confer during Readers' Workshop. The children role played the situations when they can interrupt a conference. Be sure to ask your fish all about it. We also practiced picture walk storytelling where the children use storybook picture to tell the story in their own words.

Math: The fish practice writing numerals this week. They drew a card and recorded the number and the next 3 numbers after it. We also added 2 numbers and made a graph of the sums.

Visual Arts: We created Valentines for the Pease Greeters to deliver to soldiers serving overseas. We also made snowpeople using the letters in our name. We will be using them for some math work next week. The children also sketched an animal for our bulletin board inspired by The Mitten
